OCALA - Ever since she was in third grade, Melissa Kays, 12, knew she wanted to donate some of her hair to charity. On Saturday, the three girls got a total of 33 inches of hair cut off at Salon 209 to donate to Locks of Love, Inc. The idea for the drive began not long ago when Taci, 12, a self-proclaimed tomboy who plays softball and loves her cat and dog, decided she wanted to get her long blond hair cut. They not only offered to cut Taci's hair for free so she could donate it, they blocked off some time on Saturday - usually the salon is by appointment only - for up to 30 free haircuts and complimentary manicures for any girls willing to donate their hair. read more
